Frå opphaldsrommet kjem ein inn i kleven.
ENGLISH:
The main house (stova) at Leksvol was likely built in the summer of 1756, but its interior was renovated in the 1840s. The building was relocated to a new site between 1931 and 1934. The house is a hallingstove with the Akershus-style floor plan. One first enters the entryway (forstova), which leads into the living room or main room. From the living room, there is access to the small side room (kleven). The house also has a small loft (tarr) with sleeping spaces.Story
The landslide in 1876 devastated much of the mountainside down from Øvre Ål. The water volume in Hellinggrova rose until it began to erode the area, carrying large amounts of soil and stones downhill — creating a deep valley along the stream (gróva). At that time, the farm Leksvol lay right next to this ravine, and water and gravel flooded the farmyard. An elderly man lived in this house. He was bedridden, and people came in to check on him. Water and gravel had broken through the doors, and the floor inside was covered with dirt and mud. They asked if he wanted to move to a neighboring farm, but he waved his hand and said it was no use, because “This is doomsday!”
