ENGLISH:
The house is from the farm Bakken Strand, which is located along the Strandafjord. The house was built in 1832, and it was Ola Olsson Noss Strand (1805-1897) and Astri Mikkelsdotter Strand Noss (1812-1895) who financed the construction. They hired rosepainter Nils Bæra (1785-1873) to decorate the room in 1852. The house was moved to the museum in 1937.This type of house was not very common in Ål; it is one and a half stories tall and, among other things, features windows from the high seat (the place of honor at the table) out to the gallery. The small room (kleven) is decorated with biblical motifs, and the decorations are well preserved.
Ola Strand was the grandfather of Professor Dr. Embrik Strand, and Embrik grew up in this house.
