- Hospitset eller Bakkegata 4 ligg svært sentralt i Odda sentrum. Huset som inneheldt forretningar og eit pensjonat, vart bygd i ein periode med stor aktivitet og vekst i folketal og bygningsmasse. Industriutbygginga hadde allereie ført til nedgang i turismen, men det var då 1. verdskrig starta i 1914 at det var slutt på strømmen av turistar som hadde nærmast valfarta til Odda siden 1860-tallet, og behovet for hotelltilbod vart betydeleg mindre. Lokalavisa Hardanger fekk kontor og prenteverk/trykkeri i kjellaren på nordsida av huset. Johan From hadde butikken sin Modehuset på sørsida av bygget på 1950 og 1960-talet. På 1960-talet kunne ein få klypt seg hos Lilla Damefrisørsalong i 3. etasje. Einar Carlsson og hans entrepenørfirma Hardanger Cementvarefabrikk hadde kontorer her til i 1974. Kitty Herfindal dreiv Herfindal Klær før ho og mannen Vilfred utvandra til Amerika i 1953. I 1981 kunne ein få sko seg i to etasjar då Odda Skomagasin utvida butikken sin opp ein etasje. Ein frisør, ein sportsforretning og ein konkursvarebutikk var også innom dei same lokala. Ved sida av heldt Moen og Ormbergs urmaker og gullsmedforretning stand i same lokale i heile 81 år før dei la ned drifta i 2012. Anders Moen og Guttorm Ormberg kom frå Jostedalen til Odda den 1. mai 1931. Dei overtok først urmakarforretningen til Johannessen og starta urmakarfirmaet Moen & Ormberg. I 1942 kjøpte dei Hotel Hospitset og flytta forretningen inn i lokala i første etasje der. Moen og kona dreiv Hospitset som hotell og pensjonat til 1947.
