Fra Sølvstudammen i det vestre løpet i den nedre delen av Glomma, i Tune kommune. Fotografiet er tatt et sted der vassdraget renner gjennom et bergrikt parti med forholdsvis steile skrenter ned mot elveleiet. På tvers av elva, til venstre i bildet var det oppført en anslagsvis seks-sju meter høy demning som skrår innover mot toppen. Høyden er anslått ut fra lengden på en mann som står på ei bergflate like foran konstruksjonen. Det later til at det er ei smal, åpen sjakt mellom denne demningen og bergveggen ved elvebredden. Over denne sjakta, inn mot den øvre delen av demningen, var det ei slags innkasset renne mot bergveggen bakenfor, antakelig med ledninger av et eller annet slag.
Sølvstudammen ligger i Ågårdselva, et cirka fem og en halv kilometer langt vassdrag som renner fra den nordvestre enden av Isnesfjorden (Vestvannet) i Nedre Glommas vestre løp, sørvestover gjennem berglendt terreng mot innsjøen Visterflo. Høydeforskjellen mellom Isnesfjorden og Visterflo er på bortimot 25 meter. Ågårdselva har tre fossefall, det øverste her ved Sølvstu, deretter ved Valbrekke og nederst ved Solli. Behovet for den dambygginga vi ser på dette fotografiet var forårsaket av selskapene Borregaards og Hafslunds inngrep i Glommas østre løp, hovedløpet, som gjorde det svært vanskelig å få tømmer som skulle til bedrifter nedenfor Sarpsfossen via Mingevannet, Isnesfjorden og tømmertunnelen til Eidet gjennom det trange sundet ved Trøsken i lavvannsperioder. Dette forsøkte man å løse ved å heve vannspeilet i Isnesfjorden med en dam som skulle plasseres 10-15 meter ovenfor den eksisterende dammen ved Sølvstufossen.

Da fløtinga i Glomma ble avviklet i 1985 ble det ordnet slik at fellesfløtingsforeningens arkivsaker ble overlatt til Riksarkivet, som valgte å fortsette å oppbevare dem i det eksisterende arkivrommet ved Fellesfløtingsforeningens kontor på Fetsund. Amanuensis Øivind Vestheim fra Norsk Skogbruksmuseum veiledet lokale prosjektansatte som startet ordning av materialet. Den daglige forvaltningen av arkivene er seinere overtatt av medarbeidere fra museet som ble etablert på Fetsund lenser i 1990. Fotosamlinga fra Glomma fellesfløtingsforening ble overført til daværende Norsk Skogbruksmuseum i Elverum. Materialet består av 72 album. Museumsfotograf OT Ljøstad har reprodusert de fleste av opptakene i dette materialet og skrevet negativnummere i albumene han har utført repro fra. Det finnes også originalnegativer til en del av motivene. Disse skal være merket og ordnet i mapper etter at de kom til museet.
Other informationJohs. Johannesen ble født i Oslo 16. mai 1877. Han tok artium i 1895, og tre år seinere ble han uteksaminert som bygningsingeniør fra Kristiania tekniske skole. Deretter var han ansatt ved Gleim og Eyde i Lübeck, seinere ved Eydes ingeniørkontor i Kristiania. I perioden 1900-01 studerte han ved den tekniske høgskolen i Dresden. I 1902 ble han fløtingsinspektør i Glomma-vassdraget, og fire år seinere ble han utnevnt til direktør i Christiania Tømmerdirektion, seinere kalt Glomma Fellesfløtingsforening. Denne stillingen hadde han fram til våren 1948, da han nådde aldersgrensen. Johannesen var ofte medlem av ulike tekniske kommisjoner, både i og utenfor fløtingsvesenet. Han skal blant annet ha høstet anerkjennelse for den innsatsen han gjorde i grenseforhandlinger med Russland. Johannesen var medlem av hovedstyret i Norsk Ingeniørforening fra 1925 til 1933, og i de tre siste åra av denne perioden var han styreleder med tittelen "president". Johs.
