Branntomta etter «Norstua» - Christiania Tømmerdirektions da nyoppførte inspektørbolig på et høgdedrag på stasjonssida i Kongsvinger. Brannen skal ha brutt ut 26. april 1921. Dette fotografiet er tatt påfølgende dag. Da sto bare de ildfaste delene av bygningskonstruksjonen - grunnmuren, pipa med tilhørende brannmurer og noe som kan se ut til å ha vært en peis - igjen. En del forkolet treverk lå fortsatt på branntomta. Uthusbygningen - en bordkledd bindingsverkskonstruksjon med pulttak (til høyre i bildet), ser ut til å ha kommet uskadd fra brannen. Ingeniør Egil Kopperud (1888-1970) og kona Fanny (f. 1895) hadde flyttet inn en måned før dette skjedde. Han var fløtingsinspektør i Tømmerdirektionen fra 1912. Ingeniøren var bortreist da brannen oppsto, kona var arbeidet i hagen og hushjelp Hilda Holth (1883-1959) hadde fått fri. Det var en nabo som oppdaget at det brant. Han fikk varslet fru Kopperud, og alarmert det kommunale brannvesenet. De rykket ut og tok seg inn i den brennende bygningen i håp om å kunne redde verdier. Der møtte de tjukk og kvelende røyk, men en av brannmennene greide å krabbe bort til sølvtøyskapet og berge noen verdier derfra. Snart veltet det flammer ut av hele bygningen, fra kjeller til loft. Det var 500 meter til nærmeste brannkum, så det tok tid å få rullet ut slanger, og vanntrykket var dårlig. Brannvesenet var sjanseløse i møtet med ilden – varmeutviklinga var så kraftig at de kom ikke nært nok inntil med de spede vannstrålene de hadde å hjelpe seg med. I erkjennelse av at inspektørboligen var tapt konsentrerte de seg om å spyle uthuset og telefonstolpene med vann, for å forebygge spredning av ilden. I løpet av en times tid hadde ilden fortært det meste. Bare rester av to piper raget opp på branntomta. Hvordan brannen hadde oppstått var et mysterium. Fru Kopperud benektet å ha fyrt på denne milde vårdagen, og elektrisk lys var enda ikke innlagt i huset. Observasjoner i en tidlig fase kunne tyde på at varmen kom fra badet eller fra soverommet i 2. etasje. Vinger-lensmann Rolf Johnsen (1885-1940) hadde en hypotese om at et par vannkarafler som sto i soveromsvinduet kunne ha samlet solstråler og fungert som brennglass. Bygningen var forsikret i selskapet «Norden» for 85 000 kroner og innboet var verdsatt til 40 000 kroner, store beløp med tanke på pengeverdien i 1921. Egil og Fanny Kopperud emigrerte til USA i 1923, fra 1930 bodde de i Canada. Egil Kopperud kom tilbake til Norge i midten av 1950-åra, og bodde fra da av på Smedstad i Oslo.

Dette fotografiet er fra samlinga etter Glomma fellesfløtingsforening og forløperne, Christiania Tømmerdirektion (Øvre Glommens fællesfløtningsforening) og Fredrikstad Tømmerdirektion (Nedre Glommens fællesfløtningsforening). Da det ble klart at det gikk mot avvikling av fløtinga i Glommavassdraget i midten av 1980-åra initierte Norsk Skogbruksmuseum noe som ble kalt «Prosjekt Glomma». Dette innebar at historikeren Øivind Vestheim og fotografen OT Ljøstad fulgte fløtinga i vassdraget med kamera de siste to fløtingssesongene, mens museumsdirektør Tore Fossum samarbeidet med administrasjonen og styret i Glomma fellesfløtingsforening om best mulig ivaretakelse av levningene etter den viktige aktiviteten fløtinga hadde vært. En del installasjoner i vassdrag måtte imidlertid fjernes, slik vassdragslovgivningen forutsatte. Mange husvære ble overdratt til grunneiere for en rimelig pris, og noe ble overlatt til aktører som ville drive formidling av vassdrags- og fløtingshistorie. Arkivene etter virksomheten ble overdratt til Riksarkivet, som valgte å la det bli liggende i en av kontorbygningene ved Fetsund lenser. Ordning av dette materialet ble påbegynt under ledelse av Øivind Vestheim. Etter at det ble etablert et museum ved Fetsund lenser i 1990 har personale derfra hatt det daglige forvaltningsansvaret for protokoll- og dokumentarkivet etter Glomma fellesfløtingsforening. Fotomaterialet etter organisasjonen ble overlatt til Norsk Skogbruksmuseum da fløtinga opphørte. Det besto av 72 album, samt en del «løse» kopier og negativer. Museumsfotograf OT Ljøstad reproduserte en del av motivene ved hjelp av mellomformatkamera med negativ svart-hvitt-film. Materialet ble også enkelt registrert, i første omgang med stikkord (ofte stedsnavn og opptaksdatoer) som var skrevet inn i albumene. Skanning og fyldigere registrering tas innimellom andre oppgaver, og ettersom samlinga er stor, vil det ta lang tid før dette arbeidet er fullført.
