Original Odhner regnemaskiner (populært kalt "kvern") ble produsert i St. Petersburg / Petrograd i Russland frem til 1917. Etter revolusjonen
i 1917 reiste Odhners sønner til Sverige og startet en fabrikk i Göteborg. Firmaet Original Odhner AB ble i 1942 fusjonert med Åtvidaberg Industrier (senere Facit). Regnemaskinen er mekanisk. Den kan utføre addisjon, subtraksjon, multiplikasjon og divisjon. Konstruksjonen bygger på et prinsipp med tannhjul med variabelt antall tenner.
Regnemaskintypen var p.g.a. sin høye driftsikkerhet i bruk i forretningslivet helt frem til 1950- årene. Patentert av W. T. Odhner, Petersburg 1891. Willgodt Theophil Odhner (1845 - 1905) ble født i
Vestby i Värmland. Han var ansatt ved Tsarens fabrikk for finmekanikk i St. Petersburg . I 1874 hadde han en multiplikasjonsmaskin ferdig. I
1886 startet han produksjon av Original Odhner i St. Petersburg. Odhner konstruerte sprossehjulmaskinen i 1890- årene. Maskinene ble produsert under forskjellige navn, f.eks Brunswiga (Grimme. Natalis & Co), Walther og Thales på lisens fra Odhner. Alle "kverner" er Odhner maskiner uansett hvem som har laget dem.
