Første importkai bygning 5 med lossekraner og steinsilo. Ved kaia ligger slepebåten "Emanuel" som ble brukt til sleping av steinlekteren MS "Sørfjorden" som transporterte kalkstein fra bruddene på Skaftå på Osterøy (i hovedsak) og Moster på Bømlo (unntaksvis). I følge muntlige opplysninger informanten fikk på Smelteverket sent på 1960 tallet, ble "Emanuel" kuttet ut som slepebåt for "Sørfjorden" da den klarte seg nesten like godt med egen maskinkraft. Det ble sagt at en gang "Sørfjorden" var ferdig lastet på Skaftå, hadde de problemer med motoren på "Emanuel" slik "Sørfjorden" startet turen mot Odda for egen maskin. Da "Emanuel" var ferdig reparert etter relativt kort tid, la den ut på turen for full maskin for å ta igjen "Sørfjorden" for å bidra med ekstra maskinkraft som vanlig var. Men så viste det seg at "Sørfjorden" gikk nesten like fort på egen maskin at den var nesten kommet helt inn til Odda før den ble tatt igjen av "Emanuel". Kort tid etter den episoden, ble slepebåten kuttet ut som ekstra trekkraft og i alle år etter "Sørfjorden" klarte seg med egen maskinkraft. Når tid denne episoden hendte vites ikke, men det er rimelig å anta det var tidlig i perioden med stein transport fra Skaftå siden relativt gamle bilder av "Sørfjorden" så er ikke "Emanuel" med på bildene.
Odda Smelteverk A/S ble stiftet 19.9.1924 og var en fortsettelse på fabrikkene Alby United Carbide Factories Limited (Sun Gas/karbidfabrikken) og North Westeren Cyanmid Company Limited (cyanamidfabrikken). Begge selskapene som stort sett hadde samme eiere, gikk konkurs og innstilte driften våren 1921.
BOC (British Oxygen Company Limited) eide Odda Smelteverk fra 1937 til 1998. Fra 1998 til konkursen i februar 2003 var Philip Brothers Chemicals Inc eier.
