ENGLISH:
The cowshed is from the summer farm Vieren on Veståsen. It may have been built in the 18th century, but this is uncertain. Some of the logs are split using a sash saw, while others are split by hand. This cowshed originally stood next to the summer farm cottage and therefore lacked one wall. The missing wall was built when the cowshed was reconstructed at the museum in 1994.A sash saw is a water-powered saw with a straight saw blade. This blade moves up and down. These saws were used in Norway from the 16th century until the late 19th century, and laid the foundation for the Norwegian timber industry.
