Under finn ein underlåven.
ENGLISH:
The barn has two stories, and its design is typical. It features a central beam or middle section, which the barn bridge leads onto. This was the main barn area where the grain was threshed with a flail, then tossed, winnowed, and sorted. Below is the lower barn. The first floor is divided into a fodder room on the left and a grain storage room (for the threshed grain) on the right.
The two small windows facing the valley were used to insert the horns of the winnowing fan during the winnowing process, which cleaned the grain. When coarse winnowing was done, the grain was “thrown” onto the barn floor. The lightest parts—chaff and short straw—fell quickly down, while the heavier grain landed farther away. The chaff and small straw were swept down into the lower barn and used for syrpe (mixed with water, it was used as feed for cows or horses).
The barn was probably built in the summer of 1675 or shortly thereafter and was relocated to the museum between 1931 and 1934.
