Før båndopptakerens tid var plateskjærere det vanligste opptaksmedium for lyd. NRK hadde flere typer som kunne gravere plater opp til 16" i diameter. Disse var i bruk helt opp til 1952. Sist brukt under OL i 1952.
NRK hadde 4 slike opptakere, 2 anskaffet i 1934 og 2 i 1936.

Bordet for oppt. 1 finnes i samlingen og en også mrk. 141. I store pappesken også en liten eske med. 2 Presto skrivere. 2 Telefunken p.u. Div. verktøy og tandhjul for forskj. rille-avstand.
Først Marguerite sound system (MSS). Skrivere, senere 1942/43, Telefunken skrivere og nytt bord. Til Krk. huset 1943.
