Denne dåpskjolen hadde Jorine Scheie (f. 1880) med seg frå Stavanger då ho kom til Herdla i 1911. Bestemora hennar, Sara Marie Toresdotter, Sørbø f. 1808, visste ikkje kor gamal den var eller kvar den kom frå. Den hadde gått i arv på kvinnesida.
Familien på Herdla blei enige om å slutte å bruke den gamle dåpskjolen ved tusenårskiftet. Ein har oversikt over 72 born som har brukt kjolen etter at Jorine Scheie hadde den med seg til Herdla i 1911.
Ein kjole til å ha inni den gamle dåpskjolen blei sydd i 1965 av Ester Kathrine Fjeldstad. Den blei brukt første gong av Trond Kristensen i 1966.
Dåpskjolen høyrer til ei samling tekstilar som i mars 2015 blei donert til Herdla museum av familien i tråd Anna Kathrine Kristensen f. Bjørnstad (11.08.1912-20.06.2014) sitt ønske. Anna Kathrine var siste brukar/eigar av tekstilane. Ho var eldstedotter til eigarane av Herdla gård Asbjørn og Berta Jorine Bjørnstad. Asbjørn dreiv garden frå 1912 til han døydde i 1945. Etter at enka hadde site med ansvaret for garden fram til 1949 overtok sonen Andreas drifta (1949 - 1976).
Tekstilane var delvis Anna Kathrine sine eigedelar, men mykje hadde gått i arv i generasjonar og har tilhøyrd andre familiemedlemmer. Døtrene til Anna Kathrine; Ester Fjeldstad og Berit Dahl har hjelpt museet med opplysningar om dei einskilde objekta.
