about Nothøvel med skaft av ask med avrunda form. Jernet av stål har fleire delar, som eit smalt høvelblad som er kilt fast med ein metallbolt, og eit regulerbart handtak med vingemutter.
Nothøvelen vert brukt til å laga eit spor (not) i sida av bord eller ramtre. Han vert ofte brukt saman med ein fjørhøvel som lagar ei fjør som passar inn i nota.
