Ei side fra en av merkebøkene etter Ingel Anton Jonsen Olimb (1864-1951). Olimb var født i Jevnaker kommune på Hadeland, der foreldrene drev jord- og skogeiendommen Vestre Olum. Som ung voksen prøvde Ingel Olimb seg som landhandler hjemme på Olum. Dette levebrødet hadda han da han giftet seg med Lise Marie Hansdatter Elnes (1865-1933) fra nabobygda Gran i 1891. Året etter, 28 år gammel, overtok han familieeiendommen, men etter bare fire og et halvt år valgte Olimb å selge den da gjeldstyngede garden. Etter dette flyttet han med familien til Kristiania, hvor han først var kontorist i et snekkerfirma, seinere selger for et maskinfirma. I perioden fra 1904 til 1909 skal Ingel Olimb også ha opptrådt som «agent» (selger) for øksesmeden og rørleggeren Olaf Hansen Finstad (1871-1950), som da bodde på Morstad i Gran på Hadeland. Finstad var en dyktig eggsmed, som blant annet påtok seg den krevende oppgaven det var å levere blinke- og merkeøkser med profilert egg. Når denne eggen ble slått inn i yteveden på et tre som skulle blinkes før hogst eller merkes før fløting til en bestemt kjøper, avsatte øksa en figur, et forsenket relieff. På blinkede trestammer tjente dette relieffet som skogeiers signatur, under merking som tømmerkjøperens adressesymbol.
Ingel Olimb holdt seg med små bøker der han noterte hvem som hadde bestilt de ulike merkene, som måtte være så ulike hverandre i formen at ingen skogkyndige ville forveksle dem. På denne sida ser vi en skravert rødfaget merkeprofil, samt følgende tekst:
«Andreas Hjelle Post: Nordre Aurdal, Valdres Vareadr.: Aurdal Station 1 Merkeøx m/Bliunker færdig strax Kr. 7,00 Jernbaneopkrav 10/2-06»
Dette må tolkes som om Andreas Julsen Hjelle (1849-1937) på jord- og skogbrukseiendommen Nordre Hjelle (gnr. 92, bnr. 1) i Nord-Aurdal i Valdres som bestilte ei blinkeøks med denne profilen vinteren 1906. Merket er inntegnet i notisboka som en rødfarget, trebladet rosett med lett skravur.
De fleste av øksekundene Olimb oppnådde bestillinger fra var gardbrukere i den søndre og vestre delen av Kristians amt, daværende Oppland fylke. Bøkene viser imidlertid også at han skaffet Olaf Finstad oppdrag fra Tønsberg, Kristiania, Krøderen, Østfold, Hallingdal og Våler i Solør. I tillegg til blinke- og merkeøkser skal han ha solgt svijernstempler og komponenter til hesteseler for oppdragsgiveren Olaf Finstad.
En av Ingel Olimbs etterkommere avleverte notisbøkene fra merkeøkssalget til Norsk skogmuseum i 2020. Materialet er registrert som et lite privatarkiv ved museet. Registeret finnes på nettstedet «Arkivportalen».

Ingel Olimb er en handelsagent som samlet inn bestillinger for Smeden Olaf Finstad i perioden 1904-1909. Finstad og Olimb holdt til i området som i dag er gamle Oppland. Finstad tok inn bestillinger fra områder sentralt i oppland, ned til Tønsberg, Oslo, Krøderen, Østfold, Hallingdal og helt ned til Våler i Solør. Olimb tokk inn forskjellige bestillinger alt fra jernmerker, svimerker og høvrer, men det som ble mest bestilt var Blinkeøkser og Merkeøkser. Det var mest skogeiere som bestilte Blinkeøkser siden de øksene hadde en øksegg på seg for å fjerne barken på treet før de slo inn merket sitt med baksiden av blinkeøksen der deres personlige merke var

Dette fotografiet ble tatt for student Christian Køhl fra Høgskulen på Vestlandet, som høsten 2020 hadde museumspraksis ved Norsk skogmuseum. Det inngikk i praksisen at studenten skulle lære seg å legge inn informasjon i museets samlingsdatabaser. Med litt arkivarfaglig bistand registrerte han Ingel Olimbs notisbøker inn i databaseprogrammenet ASTA med sikte på presentasjonen på den digitale «Arkivportalen». Deretter skulle Christian skrive en kort digital artikkel om det materialet han hadde registrert. Dette fotografiet ble tatt av museets fotograf som et illustrasjonsforslag til artikkelen.
