De nordiske jakt- og fiskedager er et årlig arrangement på Norsk Skogmuseum i Elverum. Det startet med «Jaktens og fiskets dag», som ble avviklet i samband med et reiselivsarrangement i 1963. Deretter fortsatte det under dette navnet noen år. I begynnelsen av 1970-åra fikk stadig flere lørdagsfri, noe som åpnet muligheter for å la arrangementet gå over to dager, lørdag og søndag. Med denne endringa, og med tilsig av besøkende fra et stadig større område, ble navnet endret til «De nordiske jakt- og fiskedager». Arrangementet er en møteplass for folk som er interesserte i jakt, fiske og friluftsliv, og det favner både kommersielle og ideelle utstillere som virker innenfor denne sektoren og en del museumsaktiviteter. I 2015 ble jakt- og fiskedagene arrangert for 53. gang i perioden 6. til 9. august med Norges Jeger- og Fiskerforbund og Elverum Røde Kors hjelpekorps som hovedsamarbeidspartnere. Arrangementet samlet om lag 230 utstillere, og det ble løst 33 533 billetter til museet i løpet av de fire jakt- og fiskedagene dette året.
Etter Vidar Holthes død høsten 2022 publiserte avisa Aftenposten følgende minneord, signert Egil Reimers, Kjell Huseby og Tor Punsvik:
«Det var med stor sorg vi mottok melding om at Vidar Holthe hadde gått bort 19. september. Vidar ble født i Vestby kommuner 15. november 1946 og var gjennom flere tiår en bauta i norsk naturforvaltning. Vi var så heldige å ha Vidar som mangeårig venn, samarbeidspartner og viktig kunnskapsressurs.
Vidar hadde bred erfaring fra hele spekteret av norsk naturforvaltning. Hans gode evner som brobygger gjorde at han nøt den høyeste respekt hos alle grupperinger. Få hadde hans evner til å formidle fag og synspunkter, muntlig og skriftlig, og han hadde et nettverk som favnet hele spekteret av norsk samfunnsliv.
Det var i det private skogeiersamvirket han de siste tiårene fant sin naturlige plass, også der med viltforvaltning som et kjerneområde. Vidar hadde både et stort internasjonalt nettverk og mange erfaringer og impulser derfra å ta med seg til våre hjemlige forhold. Vidar var tidlig engasjert i spørsmål om vilthelse og bidro sterkt til den organisering av kartlegging, overvåking og tiltak somn kom på dette feltet.
Vidar var en kreativ skeptiker med solid naturvitenskapelig bakgrunn fra UiO. Han kom tidlig med i arbeid med villrein, både her hjemme og på Grønland. Han bidro sterkt til å heve kvaliteten på forvaltning av vårt hjortevilt, og det var særlig rådyret som sto hans hjerte nær.
Vidar hadde et bredt samfunnsmessig engasjement, hadde alltid veldig mange jern i ilden og var alltid ekspeditt og gjestfri overfor de mange henvendelsene han fikk.
Han fant også tid til å følge opp sine nære i naturen, ikke minst som jeger. Med Vidars bortgang har vi, og veldig mange flere, mistet en alltid lyttende, humørfylt og reflekterende kamerat og kollega som blir med oss videre i hjertet om minnet.
Tankene våre går til Ellen og døtrene. Vi lyser fred over hans minne. På vegne av veldig mange.»

Til venstre ser vi Vidar Holthe, som i mange år har vært hovedansvarlig for dette programinnslaget. Her får han bistand i parteringsarbeidet av Ulf Inge Vien, som er daglig leder i Kokkenes mesterlaug i Hedmark og Oppland. De to karener står bak et bord der ulike deler av slaktet ble klargjort for pakking og frysing. Bak Holthe, til høyre i bildet, hang det et elglår. Feltbehandling av elg har vært et fast innslag i lørdagsprogrammet under jakt- og fiskedagene gjennom mange år. Dette temaet har alltid samlet et stort publikum i friluftsamfiet vest for museumsbygningen.
Norsk Skogmuseums fotograf, Bård Løken, pleier å følge mye av virksomheten under jakt- og fiskedagene på museet med kamera. En del av reportasjebildene han tar blir brukt i forbindelse med rapportering og noe brukes i markedsføring av påfølgende års arrangement. Et begrenset utvalg av jakt- og fiskedagsmotiver, blant annet dette, registreres også i museets fotodatabase for å gjøre dem lett gjenfinnelige på litt lengre sikt.
