Ottar Skjølås, fotografert da han plantet pluggrotplanter ved hjelp av hullpipe i Eidsvoll prestegardsskog i Akershus i juni 1977. Fotografiet er tatt i forbindelse med et prosjekt der personale fra Norsk institutt for skogforskning (NISK) å finne ut hvordan man mest mulig rasjonelt skulle arbeide med den nye plantetypen – dekkrotplanter som var drevet fram i pottebrett av plast, og som følgelig gikk under betegnelser som «pottebrettplanter» eller «pluggplanter». Disse plantene ble levert i rektangulære dyrkingsbrett av svart hardplast (polyetylen), vanligvis med 95 plantehull. Ved utplanting ble pluggplantene varsomt trukket ut av brettene og plassert i dertil egnete hull i marka, som plantøren hadde lagd ved hjelp av ei «spaserstokkformet» hullpipe av stål, som vedkommende presset ned i marka ved å sette foten på ei lita stålplate nederst, der plata også ved sitt møte med marka bidro til å gi plantehullene riktig dybde. Hvordan skulle så pottebrettene handteres på plantefeltene? En av de første metodene som ble prøvd var å utstyre dem med et handtak, som på dette fotografiet. Det besto av ei bøyle av bandjern som ble forankret under pottebrettets midtakse i lengderetningen og deretter løftet i et rett rørhandtak. Dermed kunne plantøren bære hullpipa i den ene handa og pottebrettet i den andre, noe som fungerte greit i flatt, åpent lende, som her.

Dette fotografiet inngår i ei samling der fotografene var driftsteknisk orienterte medarbeidere i Det norske skogforsøksvesen, som i 1972 skiftet navn til Norsk institutt for skogforskning (NISK). Bildene er stort sett tatt under befaringer og forsøksprosjekter som dette skogteknologiske forskingsmiljøet organiserte eller var delaktige i perioden fra 1947 til slutten av 1980-åra. Samlinga, som består av en del tematisk orienterte permer med innlimte kopier samt film (negativer og fargedias) og opptaksjournaler, ble overdratt fra Institutt for skog og landskap ved Universitetet for miljø- og biovitenskap (UMB) til Norsk Skogmuseum (NSM) høsten 2008. Etter fusjonen med Norges veterinærhøgskole i 2014 giverne av arkivet skiftet navn til «Norges miljø- og biovitenskapelige universitet» (NMBU). Kontrakt om overdragelsen av materialet finnes i Norsk Skogmuseums avtalearkiv. Dette motivet er fra en perm merket «241 Skogkulturarbeider, planting, manuelt». Negativnummeret er 23199.
