«Arbeidet med den nye Rokosjødam skrider godt frem.
Stor virksomhet ved anlegget i sommer.
Det nye dypløp ferdig.
Sommerens arbeid ved den nye Rokosjødammen nærmer seg nu sin avslutning. Den nye dam bygges 15 meter nedenfor den gamle. Den er 200 meter lang, hvilket er betydelig mer enn lengden på den gamle dam, og da den betinger en meters høiere vannstand, er det klart at der behøves en betydelig masse, både av jord og sten. Dette blev kjørt frem i vinter, slik at alt var i orden da byggingen begynte tidlig i sommer. Det har vært et stort mannskap beskjeftiget, og alt har hittil gått efter programmet.
Det nye dypløp er nettopp ferdig, lukene satt inn og vannet går nu i det nye løp. En tid i sommer er arbeidet drevet med både dag- og nattskift. Terrenget har ikke budt på noen overraskelser som har sinket arbeidet. Med det første vil nu arbeidsstokken bli betraktelig innskrenket, men endel blir beskjeftiget ennu en stund.
Samtidig har også arbeidet pågått med opprenskning og utdypning av den kanal som fører vannet fra Svartelva over til Rokosjøen. Det har i hele sommer vært en intens virksomhet også ved damanlegget og man kan nu danne sig et billede av hvordan hele anlegget vil komme til å se ut, når det til næste sommer blir ferdig. Til vinteren vil fremkjøring av sten og jord som skal benyttes næste sommer foregå.»
Tirsdag 3. mai 1938 hadde avisa Østlendingen dette oppslaget om bygginga av dammen ved Rokosjøen:
«Arbeidet på Rokosjødammen begynt.
Den skal stå ferdig til 1. august.
I går begynte man igjen med Rokosjødammen. Det er i vinter fremkjørt alt som trenges av jord og sten. Arbeidet vil i sommer falle betydelig lettere da bunnen er ferdig. Foreløpig er man i gang med noen få mann, men arbeidsstokken vil senere bli utvidet. Dog trengs i år bare halvparten av det mannskap man benyttet i fjor. Det er beregnet at dammen skal stå ferdig omkring 1. august.»
Rokosdjødammen ved Rokoelvas (Svartelva) utløp fra den vestre enden av den nevnte sjøen i Løten i Hedmark. Bildet er tatt fra «vannsida» - altså over det blanke vannspeilet - 1. mai 1942, på et tidspunkt da det var lite vann i sjøen. Rokosjødammen var murt av naturstein og hadde seks løp, og i tillegg sannsynligvis ei botnluke under det lille huset som sto på damkrona. I skogkanten i bakgrunnen skimter vi et lite hus, muligens ei damkoie - et oppholdssted for dem som regulerte dammen.
Rokosjøen ble ifølge Gunnar Sætrens bok «Beskrivelse af Glommen» (1904) regulert med en dam allerede i 1830, Målet var å husholdere med vannet til beste for kverner, møller, sagbruk og etter hvert også andre industriforetak ved Svartelva, som hadde mange dammer og fall før den etter snaut to mil nådde Åkersvika i Mjøsa. Den Rokosjødammen vi ser på dette fotografiet ble bygd i 1937-38 - jfr. fanen «Opplysninger».

Da fløtinga i Glomma ble avviklet i 1985 ble det ordnet slik at fellesfløtingsforeningens arkivsaker ble overlatt til Riksarkivet, som valgte å fortsette å oppbevare dem i det eksisterende arkivrommet ved Fellesfløtingsforeningens kontor på Fetsund. Amanuensis Øivind Vestheim fra Norsk Skogbruksmuseum veiledet lokale prosjektansatte, som startet ordning av materialet. Den daglige forvaltningen av arkivene er seinere overtatt av medarbeidere fra museet som ble etablert på Fetsund lenser i 1990. Fotosamlinga fra Glomma fellesfløtingsforening ble overført til daværende Norsk Skogbruksmuseum i Elverum. Materialet består av 72 album. Museumsfotograf OT Ljøstad har reprodusert de fleste av opptakene i dette materialet og skrevet negativnummere i albumene han har utført repro fra. Det finnes også originalnegativer til en del av motivene. Disse skal være merket og ordnet i mapper etter at de kom til museet.
Other informationJohs. Johannesen ble født i Oslo 16. mai 1877. Han tok artium i 1895, og tre år seinere ble han uteksaminert som bygningsingeniør fra Kristiania tekniske skole. Deretter var han ansatt ved Gleim og Eyde i Lübeck, seinere ved Eydes ingeniørkontor i Kristiania. I perioden 1900-01 studerte han ved den tekniske høgskolen i Dresden. I 1902 ble han fløtingsinspektør i Glomma-vassdraget, og fire år seinere ble han utnevnt til direktør i Christiania Tømmerdirektion, seinere kalt Glomma Fellesfløtingsforening. Denne stillingen hadde han fram til våren 1948, da han nådde aldersgrensen. Johannesen var ofte medlem av ulike tekniske kommisjoner, både i og utenfor fløtingsvesenet. Han skal blant annet ha høstet anerkjennelse for den innsatsen han gjorde i grenseforhandlinger med Russland. Johannesen var medlem av hovedstyret i Norsk Ingeniørforening fra 1925 til 1933, og i de tre siste åra av denne perioden var han styreleder med tittelen "president". Johs.
