Andersby skole er kommunens eldste skole og den eneste fra før krigen. Den ble bygget i 1860 i bygda Kiby, som ligger øst for Vadsø. Da Kiby fikk ny skole i 1925 ble skolehuset flyttet til Andersby.
Etter at Norge fikk den første skoleloven i 1739, var skolepliktige barn nødt til å undervises. Dette foregikk vanligvis som omgangsskoler, hvor lærerne kom til bygda og det ble gitt undervisning i hjemmene, gjerne et fast bygg hvor alle samlet seg. I Andersby kom det tilreisende lærere som bodde i et tilbygg knyttet til skolen, -lærerboligen.
Skolen i Andersby ble drevet til 1948. Da spurte innbyggerne i Andersby, Nord-Varanger kommune om barna kunne få adgang til å søke skole i Vadsø. Det var seks-syv barn i skolealder som bodde i Andersby da. Herredsstyret vedtok søknaden, og det ble satt opp rutebil til Vadsø.
Etter nedleggelsen forble skolen i Vadsø kommunes eie. Vadsø museum- Ruija kvenmuseum har i perioder drevet formidling av skolehistorien i bygget. I 2019 kjøpte Stig Arvola bygget av Vadsø kommune. Selve skolehuset er ikke mye endret, og er derfor et unikt bygg i Finnmarkssammenheng.
