Trekk fra engelske hospitaler mot slutten av 19. århundre.
Liverpool Royal Infirmary,
hvor den første sykepleierskole utenfor London ble opprettet etter Florence Nightingales prinsipper. Det ble stiftet i 1745, som "A Public Infirmary" for å ta imot alle fatige syke og skadede, ikke bare fra byden Liverpool, men fra alle som måtte komme dit fra hele landet og også fra Irland. Hospitalet ble åpnet i 1749 og holdt til i denne første bygningen til 1824. Siden er det gjentatte ganger utvidet, og etter "The National Health Service Act" fra 1948, hører det til "The United Liverpool Hospital Group".
Illustrasjonene er samlet av forstanderinne Ingrid Wyller for å illustrere hennes bok, men de ble utelatt fordi det ble for dyrt. Det ble senere laget en serie med 25 billedbånd brukt til undervisning. Samlingen består av 875 bilder.
