Opplysninger fra giver:
> - First draft of human genome sequenced from 1990-2003 at huge cost (approx 3 Billion USD) and effort. Technology used = "Sanger"
>
> - In 2005 along comes the release of "Next Generation DNA Sequencing", allowing a lot more sequence to be generated, faster, and for much less money.
>
> - This machine (an Illumina GAIIx) is an early Next Generation Sequencing model. Effectively obsolete, they are still sold (you'd be nuts to buy one though) but are still used in many centres due to the high instrument purchase price. This machine was used at the Norwegian Sequencing Centre (www.sequencing.uio.no) from 2008-2011, and contributed amongst others to sequencing of the cod genome sequence, as part of work conducted by a Norwegian consortium.
