"Dukkestuen" er laget av Knut B. Geelmuyden (03.12.1893 - 11.02.1978) som var overingeniør hos Kværner Brug A/S. Han laget huset til sin yngste datter Else Kjærnes' fire barn. (Unni Kjærnes, Liv Kjærnes, Eva Kjærnes Casasole og Jørgen Kjærnes). Huset ble laget som et hobbyarbeid over en årrekke fra midten av 1950- tallet.
Huset er en gave til Norsk Teknisk Museum, men med klausul om at dersom det senere ikke skulle være aktuelt å ha det utstilt permanent på Teknisk Museum eller på Bymuseet i Oslo, kan de nåværende eiere hente det tilbake.
Geelmuyden elsket detaljer. Møblene er kopier av møbler i familiens eie og kjelken og skiene er makne til de som barna hadde. Det er ordentlige springfjærer i madrassene og hvert enkelt kastanjeblad er loddet sammen av fem enkeltblad. I "biljardrommet" er gulvet laget som en labyrint. Går du riktig, leder den deg til naborommet. Tapetene er håndmalte. Skuffene i kommodene kan åpnes og kjøleskapet har hyller og riller. Huset og møblene er av papp. Lysestakene er blant de få tingene i tre; de er dreiet av fyrstikker. Geelmuyden laget mye verktøy selv, b. l. a. en stanse til taksteinene. Han hadde også god bruk for tannlegeverktøy.
