SubjectSpillflåte ved Sørlistøa fløtermuseum i Åmot kommune i Hedmark. Dette er altså en tømmerflåte med et gangspill på. På gangspillet var det ei lang trosse med en «dregg» (et anker) i enden. Ankeret ble rodd framover i sjøen og sluppet ned på botnen, der det festnet seg. Deretter kunne fløterne begynne sin gang rundt «tønna», vindespillet, slik at flåten og en bakenforhengende tømmerbom gradvis beveget seg om ankringspunktene, som gradvis ble flyttet nærmere Valmen og elva Søndre Osas utløp fra Osensjøen. Øivind Vestheim, som var amanuensis ved Norsk Skogbruksmuseum, har beskrevet flåtetypen slik:
«Flåten ble lagd av det fineste virket av fløtningstømmeret. Det skulle være 23 stokker for å få riktig bredde. Flåten ble satt sammen på land, og den var neste kvadratisk. Det var nødvendig for å få god gangplass når to mann skulle gå i bredda og skru tynna rundt ved hjelp av to lange stenger, «årer».
Helst brukes det gran til å bygge flåte av fordi den var tørrest. Men om det fantes fine furustokker, kunne også det brukes. Det ble hogd store hull i toppenden på hver stokk og drevet etter en bjelke, som skulle bidra til å holde flåten sammen foran. Så ble det lagt en stokk tversover, boret hull gjennom det heile og slått inn trenagler. Flåten var litt smalere foran, fordi alle stokkene lå med toppen fram.
Tømmeret skulle være 12 alen eller omkring 15 halvmeter langt. Det ble ikke brukt dobbelt lag. Men når en skulle ha all «pargasen» utpå flåten, ble det stukket særlig lett tømmer under for å få bedre oppdrift og flyteevne. Understokkene ble så gjølt fast til flåten ved hjelp av spesiell kjetting, som ble kalt flåtaband. Det ble brukt 20-22 understokker, som de la langsetter hver fuge mellom flåtestokkene. Også understokkene lå med toppendene framover. Oppå flåten ble det lagt vrakbord på tvers for å få et jamt golv å gå på.
Det var lagt en stokk på ytterkanten langsetter på hver side av flåten, for det måtte være feste til årer. Flåten ble nemlig rodd når den var tom, og når en skulle over sjøen for å hente ny bom. Hele mannskapet på 8 rodde med hver si åre (4 årepar), som var mye lengre og kraftigere enn vanlige årer til robåt. » (Fra artikkelen «Med tømmer over Osensjøen» i Norsk Skogbruksmusums årbok nr. 11 (1985-1986)
Den omfattende bruken av slike spillflåter på Osensjøen opphørte da slepebåten «Trysilknut» ble satt i drift i 1914. Spillflåter var likevel noe i bruk i forbindelse med landrensk også i åre som fulgte, og på de mindre Ulvsjøene lengre øst var denne måten å få fram tømmeret på i bruk til slutten av 1960-åra. Spillflåten på fotografiet er en kopi som er lagd ved Sørlistøa fløtermuseum i nyere tid etter ovenstående beskrivelse, antakelig lagd i 1991. De mange små krakkene med seter av halvkløvninger er vel helst plassert på flåten med tanke på unger som bruker den som plattform for fiskeaktiviteter.
