Harpefossen i Gudbrandsdalslågen ligger lengst nord i Sør-Fron kommune.
Namnet
Stadnamnet Harpefoss er gamalt. [Hugo Frederik] Hiorthøi [1741-1812] brukte det i 1775. Pål Kluften [188-1942] hevda at de gamle sa «Haltbrufossen». Kva betyr dette namnet? Namneteoriane er mange:
Harpefoss kjem truleg frå norrønt harpe, altså ein foss i mange trinn, jfr. Kornharpe.
Langvegsfarande kom og her.
Denne vart seinare sprengd bort.
Brua hadde tømra brukar med stokka tvers over.
Før brua vart sprengd, tok dei bort all steinen som kunne brukast opp att.
Som straff måtte soldaten gå spissrotgang i to dagar. Dette var ei hard straff. Etterpå flytta dei saman att, og i følgje fogden levde dei lykkeleg resten av livet.
Rett ovenfor Harpefossbrua, vest for Brua gard, går eit grunnare elvsfar enn hovudfaret.

Title«10/6 - 38» (Innskrift under opplimt kopi av fotografiet i GFFF-album nr. 62)
Other informationJohs. Johs. Johannesen var æresmedlem i Finlan
