Familien Mathiesen reiste med DS Sirius til Tromsø sommeren 1889 og besøkte denne sameleiren et sted langs denne ruta. Axel Lindahl besøkte samme plass trolig sommeren 1890.
Fjellfinnbakken/ Eidebakken på Lyngseidet var en samisk sommerboplass for svenske reindriftssamer (fra Karesuando-området), som fra slutten av 1880-årene ble en turistattraksjon. Handelsmann Givær var en pådriver bak sameleiren. For å få turistskipene på vei mot Nordkapp til å stoppe der. Kong Oscar II var blant de som besøkte sameleiren i 1903.
Det fins et fotefarhefte om Eidebakken og ei bildebok "Her bor mitt folk". Begge ligger ute i bokhylla. Står noe i Lyngen bygdebok. Wilse tok mange bilder fra denne leiren. Det var også en slik leir i Tromsdalen, etablert noe tidligere. Knud Knudsen besøkte blant annet denne.
