Strømsø kirke er en korskirke av tre fra 1667. Den har et sakristi ved østenden av koret og en takrytter over korsmidten. I 1702 fikk kirken utvendig tømmeret bordkledning.
Interiøret er sterkt preget av ombygningen på 1840-tallet. Altertavlens nattverdsmaleri og døpefonten ble beholdt under ombyggingen, men korskillet og alle de innelukkede stoler og pulpiturer ble tatt ut. Den nye innredning ble gjennomført etter planer av Chr. H. Grosch. De tre vestre korsarmer har galleri ved vestveggen. Orgelet er plassert på galleriet i vestre korsarm. De takbærende stolpene i kirken ble kledd inn med bord til åttekantede pilarer med klassiserende baser og kapiteler. Prekestolen er tegnet av Grosch; klassisistisk med uregelmessig polygonal form, og har fyllinger i enkelt rammeverk. Altertavlen har et stort maleri av nattverden malt av Karel van Mander i 1667. Rammen er fra 1843 og er utformet med lav gavl som tas opp av pilastre på hver side. Døpefonten er datert 1683 og er av forgylt bronse, med en åttekantet kum, båret av en Johannesfigur.
