Da Norsk Folkemuseum opna på Bygdøy i 1902 var Kari Rudi tilsett som musikar. Ho spelte langeleik.
Kari Rudi vart omtala i fleire av avisene som skreiv om fyrste museumssesongen på Bygdøy. Eit mangfaldiggjort skriftstykkje formulerte det slik:
«Norsk Folkemusæum har ved sit Anlæg paa Bygdø visselig gjort, hvad dets Midler tillod det at gjøre for at skaffe Folk baade ædel og lærerig Underholdning.
En Kvæld derude, naar den milde Sommernat sænker sig over Øen, naar man fra de gamle Stuer hører Felelaat og Langleikens bløde Toner, en Kvæld derude og man kommer snart igjen.»
Kari hadde fast plass i Raulandsstua frå Numedal denne sommaren. Museet hadde ikkje noko hus frå Valdres på det tidspunktet, men i Raulandsstua «sidder den unge Valdersjente Kari Rudi, Langleikspillersken. Springar, Hallinger og Slaatter myldrer under Karis fine Hænder frem af det gamle Instrument.»
Den unge Kari Rudi var berre 21 år i 1902, og dessutan var dei to kjende langeleikspelarar frå Valdres som heitte Kari Rudi, så ho var støtt den yngre av dei to.
På postkortet frå Leikarvollen finn vi att Kari med langeleiken, og der har ho på seg Hardanger-nasjonalen, ein bunad ho også er portrettert med på eit foto i Arne Bjørndals samling ved Universitetet i Bergen. Der er ho dessutan i lag med bror sin, Knut Ø. Rudi, som ho også budde i lag med desse fyrste åra i hovudstaden.
I katalogen for utstillinga «Leve langeleiken» på Ringve museum i 1987 står det om Kari at ho var den fremste langeleikspelaren i søskenflokken på sju, der alle spelte. Ja, katalogforfattaren drog på skikkeleg, og meinte Kari truleg var ei av dei beste langeleikspelarene som har levd. Elisabeth Kværne og Bjørn Aksdal framhever også kvalitetane hennar i boka "Langeliken, heile Noregs instrument". Kari fekk dessuten leva lenge, gifta seg og tok namnet Kari Rudi Fossum. Under det namnet fins ho også på lydopptak og filmavis.
