Denne gjenstanden tilhører samling gitt til museet av Leonhard Seppala.
Leonhard Seppala ble født i Skibotn i Troms i 1877 og var av kvensk avstamming. Han utvandret fra Skjervøy til Alaska i USA. Seppala kom til Alaska i 1900 for å grave gull og begynte etter hvert med hundekjøring. Hans mest kjente bedrift er hans innsats i serumløpet i 1925, hvor en stafett av hundekjørere fraktet serum til byen Nome i Alaska for å bekjempe en difteri-epidemi. Han vant også flere løp, bl.a. det 650 km lange All-Alaskan Sweepstake flere ganger. Han drev senere avl og oppdrett av hunderasen siberian husky. Han døde i Seattle i 1967.
Gjenstandene som han ga videre til museet er knyttet til hans virke som hundekjører og gullgraver.
