- Polititjenstemannen Gerhard Geving skal ha blitt ilagt bot fra sin arbeidsgiver fordi han nektet å gjøre den reglementerte nazi-hilsenen. Meddelelsen er undertegnet av politipresidenten i Trondheim, Christoffer A. B. Lange.

Gerhard Geving var politibetjent i Trondheim før og under krigen.
Allerede i 1941 hadde han to anmerkninger på sitt rulleblad for "uhøflig opptreden mot overordnede".
Han hadde pr 18.11.1941 14 års spesialisering/utdannelse som teknisk spesialist, og hadde spesialutdannelse i dette gjennom studiebesøk ved Identifiseringssentralen i Oslo og kurs ved Stockholms Högskolas Kriminaltekniska Institut. Trondheim Politikammers eneste ekspert i fingeravtrykkfotografering og tekniske undersøkelser. Assisterte kommando der Sicherheitspolitzei und des SD under krigen.
Mottok mange klager fra NS-medlemmer, kolleger og andre med nazi-sympatier fordi han nektet å hilse på dem. Han ble bøtelagt 500 kr for "grov respektstridig opptreden" 21.1.1942. Han ble suspendert uten lønn av Christian Lange den 1. mai 1942, da han nektet å arrestere lærer Arnold Gjelde under lærerstriden/læreraksjonen.
Etter krigen ble han gjeninnsatt og ble politiførstebetjent. Han ble anmeldt for tjenesteforsømmelse i 1946 av en nabo, men saken ble raskt henlagt.
Geving var den som i 1947 monterte museets samlinger i nytt lokale i Trondheim Tinghus. Han utførte et meget godt arbeid for Kriminalmuseet helt til han gikk av som førstebetjent 1. juli 1962.

Trondheim politimuseum ble grunnlagt i 1918 av politimester Jelstrup og politioverbetjent Haavin. Samlingen registrert i 1935. Samlingen var utstilt på Trondheim politikammer i Hornemannsgården frem til 1942. Samlingen ble oppbevart hos Vitenskapsselskapet frem til den ble utstilt på nytt i Trondheim Tinghus i 1947. Der ble den værende til gjenåpningen i politihusets kjeller i i Kongens gt. 87 i 1975.
Grunnet plassmangel ble samlingen senere flyttet til det gamle Kriminalasylet i Kongens gate 95, og Trondheim politimuseum åpnet ny utstilling med temaet 2. verdenskrig i 1995. To år senere ble utstillingen utvidet til hele 2. etg. og deler av 1. etg.
Trondheim politimuseum ble nedlagt i 2000. Lokalene, samlingen og utstillingene ble overtatt av Norsk rettsmuseum (nå Justismuseet.)
