Knivbajonett med slire som del av utrustning knyttet til Bataljon 99, som er navnet brukt i Norge for 99th Infantry Battalion (Separate), opprettet i USA, 10. juli 1942. Bajonett og slire var del av utstillingen "Minne frå ein krig", som krigsveteran John Pettersen fra Sylta, Radøy i Alver kommune, var viktig del av. Pettersen var sjømann da krigen brøt ut i 1939, han gikk i land i New York og meldte seg til tjeneste for de allierte styrker. I 1943 ble han innkalt til å delta i Bataljon 99 i det amerikanske forsvaret.
"Bajonetten hang alltid på høgre side i ammunisjonsbeltet. I nærkamp monterte vi bajonetten på geværet": John Pettersen. Bajonett og slire ble gitt i gave fra Ove Waldemar S. Bergo.
