Einar Moan (1908-1980) bygget radioen. Han var elektriker og ansatt som driver av Tolgen Elektrisitetsverk, Kronskogen i perioden 1937- 1946.
Den ble lagd på verkstedet til elektrisitetsverket i all hemmelighet. Den kamuflerte radioen ble brukt til illegal lytting på sendingene fra London under andre verdenskrig.
"Radioen var så finurlig innebygd at den ikke skulle la seg åpne uten en spesiell teknikk. På en utstilling var det en som forsøkte å åpne klokken med det resultat at låsemekanismen gikk i stykker. Den ble derpå åpnet ved hjelp av «makt» (vinkelsliper mm.). Børsemaker Morten Terje Steen satte den så i orden igjen." ifølge giver.
