Bruk
Bannerstangtopp (a) med banner (b) (stangen mangler; den ville vært ca 5 meter høy). Brukes under opptog i årlige innhøstingsfestivaler, og da som (a) kosmologisk merke og (b) identitetssamlende merke for en enkelt landsby eller et landsbyavsnitt. Flaggstangtoppen fra Yonaguni-øya (Dunang), men produsert på øya Ishigaki. Den er et samlende merke for et østlig avsnitt av landsbyen Sonai. Ornamenteringen gir et sett med positive tegn for innhøstingsfestivalen: trane, furukvister, sløyfe, flagrende skjegg. I sentrum er solen (trommefasong) med måne og stjerner. Melkeveien slynger seg gjennom det hele. De vingeformede trefiner-utstikkerne fra siden er bambusblader. Utstikkerne som rekker forover og bakover er vifter. Hjulet som omslutter solen har heksagrammer: taoistiske spådomstegn som også yter vern mot onde makter. Skriften på flagget (b) betyr "god avling."Gjenstanden behandles med ærefrykt, og vises vanligvis ikke frem mellom den årlige festivalen. Originalen er et av flere hellige objekter tilhørende huset Umata (Tamamura), et stamhus for det rituelle liv på øya Yonaguni.- Asia Øst-Asia Japan Okinawa Ishigaki
