Tanka i tekstil. Et gult silkestoff med blomtermønster i rødt og grønt henger forrest og kan knyttes opp. Selve bildet er en malt buddha-figur. Rundt dette er det kinesisk silke som en smal, dobbel ramme rundt bildet, en i rødt og en i brunt. Dette kalles tankaens ''regnbue''. På undersiden av denne rammen er det et firkantet felt av rød, kinesisk silke. Dette kalles for tankaens ''dør''. Hovedrammen er av blå kinesisk silke. Det er en innsydd trestokk øverst på tankaen og en metallstang nederst. Baksiden er foret med blått bomullsstoff. Det er en lang prosess å lage en tanka, og ofte er flere personer involvert i arbeidet på forskjellige stadier, med en mester som leder og veileder for arbeidet. Se Myers, Diana K. & Susan S.
