Per Terje Norheim oktober 2020:
Japanese dagger, tanto
Bade is shinogi tsukuri (ridged), heavily grinded down and with no details visible. Length to mune machi (beginning of tang) 26,0 cm, width at mune machi 1,9 cm, total length including tang 33,2 cm. Nakago (tang) is shortened a lot – this blade has originally most likely been a wakizashi (short sword), having one hole and is unsigned.
Habaki (collar) in copper.
Mounts: Saya (scabbard) with mottled gold and brown laquer. Kurikata (cord loop) of wood, damaged. Tsuba(guard) missing.
The hilt presently with the blade does not belong to it and is far too long. Dark blue lacing over same (ray skin), menuki are mass produced copper stampings.
