- Kulturhistorisk museum utførte en arkeologisk utgravning av tre kullgroper på Dagalid ved Møsvatn, Vinje, Telemark, i forbindelse med reguleringsplan Dagalid. Undersøkelsen fant sted i tidsrommet 27.09.–30.09 2011. Kullgropene (ID129501, 129503 og 129505) ble snittet med gravemaskin, og det ble i tillegg gravd et prøvestikk i ID129505. De var nokså likeartede i form og størrelse – alle tre var enfasede, sirkulære/ovale kullgroper med en ytre diameter på 8 meter og med sirkulært/ovalt bunnlag. På grunn av grunnforholdene var det ikke mulig å observere hvordan veden hadde vært stablet i gropene. To av gropene (ID129503 og ID129501) hadde mulige små sidegroper/groper i vollen. Kullgrop ID129505 hadde en renne i vollen inn mot den indre gropen. Fire kullprøver ble vedartsbestemt av Helge I. Høeg og datert ved NTNU i Trondheim. Analyseresultater og kopi av analyserapportene finnes i utgravningsrapporten (Viken 2020). Trevirket det ble produsert kull av var bjørk. Samtlige dateringer falt tett sammen innenfor tidsrommet 1020–1160 e.Kr. som tilsvarer slutten av vikingtiden og inn i middelalderen. Restmateriale av analyserte kullprøver er katalogisert og magasinert. Øvrige kullprøver er kassert ettersom det foreligger dateringer fra alle kullgropene.
