Sensommeren 2014 ble det gravd ut deler av et koksteinslag på Bleken i Lillehammer kommune, som med all sannsynlighet kan knyttes til bryggevirksomhet i høymiddelalder. Undersøkelsen ble foretatt som en maskinell flateavdekking i kombinasjon med to anlagte sjakter i henholdsvis øst-vest og nord-sør gående retning, for å dokumentere lagets utstrekning og omfang. Lokaliteten ble ikke avdekket i sin helhet, da koksteinslaget strekker seg ut over tiltaksgrensen i nord, sør, vest og øst. Tykkelsen på laget indikerer en relativt omfangsrik virksomhet. Under koksteinslaget ble det påvist et fossilt jordbrukslag med datering til tidlig middelalder.
Det ble tatt ut seks kullprøver og en jordmikromorfologisk prøve i forbindelse med undersøkelsen. Tre kullprøver er vedartsbestemt av Jannie Holm Larsen, Moesgård museum, og datert ved Ångströmlaboratoriet, Uppsala universitet. En jordmikromorfprøve ble sendt til analyse hos Dr. Richard Macphail, University College London.
