- Arkeologisk utgravning ved NIKU. Regin Meyer gjennomførte en arkeologisk undersøkelse i Romnes kirke 14. – 16. mai 2013. Kirken er en steinkirke fra middelalderen med tretårn i vest, samt skip, kor, og lengst øst en apside. I forbindelse med anleggelse av nytt gulv i kirkens apside, ble tidligere gulv fjernet. Under arbeidet ble det gravd ut to lag med rester av rivningsmateriale. Det ene laget (lag 2) inneholdt 17 mynter (UMK 2404/150284-150300) som alle er datert til middelalderen, myntene ble funnet i kvadrantene 3 og 5. En sentral konsentrasjon av myntfunn i apsidens midtre kan forklares med at kirkens alter eller en helgenfigur, eventuelt relikvieskrin, har stått i apsiden i middelalderen. Dette er kjent ut fra andre middelalderkirker.
