Skipsrattet stammer fra D/S Melbourne. Rattet ble antakelig byttet da skuta lå til reparasjon ved Bachs Verksted i 1947/48, og hang på kontoret til Sigvart Bach helt til han gikk bort,
D/S Melbourne ble bygget som en tråler ved Smiths Dock i Middlesborough i England i 1936, og den ble hjemmehørende i Grimsby. I september 1939 ble båten rekvirert av Royal Navy til bruk som anti-ubåttråler. DS Melbourne ble senket av tyske fly ved Gratangen i Troms den 22. mai 1940. I 1947 ble vraket hevet av skipsverftet til Sigvart Bach fra Harstad (Bachs Verksted i Harstadhamn). Skuta ble reparert og solgt til Th. Øverland AS, fra Kristiansund i 1949. og fikk nytt navn MS Hallstein.
