Gullhaugen, med tuberkulosehjemmet til høyre for midten av bildet.
Guldhaugen tuberkulosehjem ble bygget i regi av Harstad & Trondenes sanitetsforening, og ble innviet i februar 1918. Sanitetsforening hadde allerede i 1914 kjøpt inn en fem mål stor tomt på Gullhaugen. Senere ga redaktør Eide et tilsvarende stykke til formålet. Sanitetsforeningen stod bak byggearbeidet, og ga i tillegg lintøy og gardiner til bygget. Bygningen var tegnet av Sigurd Bjørhovde. Bygget ble utvidet og modernisert i 1934. Det var da plass til omtrent 40 pasienter. Sanatoriet var i bruk i hvert fall frem til 1961, og bygningen ble revet i 1979. (Kilder: "Ved egne krefter", sidene 159 og 161; lokalhistoriewiki.no).
Bildet må være tatt etter utbyggingen i 1933-34, da det er åtte sørvendte loftsutspring på den.
