- Bildet ble tatt av fotograf Trygve Laudal mellom 1962 og 1944. Den avbildede kirken ble bygget på neset hvor Kirkenes ligger i dag, der de eldre norske stedsnavnene Pisselv og Håkjerringnes tidligere hadde vært brukt. Det samiske stedsnavnet Ákkolagnjárga (Håkjerringnes) ble endret som følge av dette til fordel Girkonjárga (Kirkenes). Kirken i Kirkenes ble stående helt til 1944 da dem ble destruert av tilbaketrekkende tyske styrker med ordre om å utføre den brente jords taktikk på all bebyggelse i Nord-Norge øst for Lyngen.

Kirken ble bygget på neset som tidligere gikk under Pisselv og Håkjerringnes. Bygging av kirken førte til stedsnavn endring til Kirkenes. Kirken var i bruk fram til 1944 da den ble destruert under andre verdenskrig av de tyske okkupasjonsstyrkene.- BruksstedKirkenes Kirkenes kirkesikker
