Johanne Nylænd var ein banebrytar i husflidsarbeidet i Telemark. Ho var fødd på Kjelingtveit i Rauland. Johanne var særs interessera i gamal vevteknikk, men fyrst då ho var 28 år fekk ho høve til å arbeide med det. Ho tok opp att krokåklevevnad, smetteåkle og ein gamaldags vevnad som kallast gåsauge.
Johanne tok og oppatt den gamle teknikken Telemarksbinding som ho lærte av Anne Urbø, som vel var den siste som kunne den teknikken.
Seinare fekk Johanne gå på husflidskurs i Oslo. Ho vart med på fleire utstillingar der ho fekk medaljer for arbeida sine.
Ho ivra for å lære bort kunnskapane sine til andre og heldt vevskule både i Rauland, Vinje og Fyresdal.
Johanne var og oppteken av plantefarging og gav ut boka "Norske plantefarger".Fotografering: 1910 - 1930
