- HistorySterke-Nils vart fødd på den vesle husmannsplassen Rulleteig i Brunkeberg. Alt som ung gut blei han lagt merke til for sin uvanlege styrke. Nils var eit snilt og godsleg menneske som prøvde å halde seg borte frå salgsmål. Men det var mange som ville prøve krefter med han. Då han gifta seg, rydda han plassen Langedal i Trollebotn på Seljorsheia. Det blir fortald at han bar fram tømmeret til stova på akslene. Det var mange som var misunnelege på Nils, både på grunn av styrken, men og fordi det gjekk han så godt i livet. Ein gong gjekk nokre av desse samen og skulle gjere han eit spikk. Dei fekk NIls til å hjelpe seg med å lyfte eit mastetre. Då Nils hadde fått godt tak i eine enden, slapp dei ander taket, og han blei ståande aleine med børa. Dette blei for mykje, sjølv for Nils. Han fekk brokk og blei aldri den same att. Fleire år seinare slo svogeren til Nils, Eivind Napastaa, Nils i hovudet med eit trestykke. Like etter døydde han av slaget. Han blei gravlagd på Seljord kyrkjegard, men grava hans blei ikkje merkt. Ved Seljord kyrkje står "Sterke-Nilssteinen". Denne 570 kilo tunge steinen lyfte Nils opp frå bakken. Den kjende bygdediktaren Jørund Telnes har skrive diktverket "Sterke-Nils".
