Gjenstanden kommer fra felemaker Odd P Jacobsens siste verksted, Byåsenvn 70B i Trondheim.
Odd P Jacobsen (1911-2007) var fiolinmaker. Han var tidlig musikkinteressert og laget sin første fele allerede når han var fjorten. I ungdomsårene spilte han også i danseorkestre lokalt på bygdene.
Jacobsen gikk i lære seks år hos Anton J. Owesen der han lærte å reparere ulike instrumenter: strykeinstrumenter, klarinetter, fløyter, gitarer og positiv. Som fiolinmaker var han sannsynlig til stor del selvlært! Han åpnet eget verksted i 1933. Under årene deltok Jacobsen i internasjonale utstillinger og konkurranser og fikk god omtale spesielt for sine bratsjinstrumenter.
I perioden 1939-1954 laget han også gitarer, både spanske akustiske gitarer og elektriske orkestergitarer (jazzgitarer eller Cello-gitarer som han selv kalte dem). De ble produsert under merke ”Jasel”. Navnet kom sannsynligvis av en sammenslåing av Jacobsen og kollegaen Selseth.
Også som pensionist var han lenge aktiv med å reparere strykeinstrumenter i det lokale musikklivet.
