Gamle Ibestad kirke. Kirken ble revet i 1879-1880, og bildet er følgelig svært gammelt.
På grunn av økt folketall ble det vedtatt å rive den gamle og oppføre ei ny kirke på samme sted. Den nye kirken ble oppført på samme sted som den gamle middelalderkirka, og ble innviet i 1881.
Opprinnelig fotograf er ukjent, men det kan være Hans Andreas Hansen, som drev som fotograf i Harstad på 1870-tallet. Harald Otto Hanssen var opprinnelig oppført som fotograf, men han var bare 4 år gammel da kirken ble revet. Sistnevnte har imidlertid trolig reprodusert motivet.
