Hi, my name is Jan Erik Hoff. By the name of Little Sofus (Sophus) In 1959 at the age of 13, I won Oslo's Rock'n Roll Championship at Bygdoy Sjobad, and earned the title Oslo's "king of Rock'n Roll", but I never see that mentioned any where. After the contest I was approached by the record company who was also the arranger of the event. They wanted
me to sign a recording contract, which I refused, largely due to
bad advice from my alcoholic father. They then signed up Roald Stensby who came in 2nd place in the contest.
Next year the Rock'n Roll championship of Norway was held, and
guess who won? You guessed it; Roald Stensby! Of coarse their
artist won! It was fixed!! Just as The Nordic Championship of Rock'n Roll was fixed in Stensby's favor the following year..
I am not a sore loser, but this fact needed to be exposed.
If anyone is wondering what happened to Little Sofus, please look me up at janhoffonemanband.com
and check out my song "Sommer'n er haerlig I Norge"!
Hilsen Sofus (Heia Norge!)

Hello again, My name is Jan-Erik Hoff, formerly known as "Little Sofus" who, at age 13, won the Oslo mesterskapet i Rock'n Roll in 1959.
Since I don't see this mentioned anywhere; (it's as if it never happened), I would like to send you, or to whom it may concern, some material; newspaper and magazine articles covering this event.
After being crowned Oslo's king of Rock.n Roll, I went on to tour with Egil Monn Iverson Promotions all over Norway; from Kristiansand to Aalesund, and every where between until I (made
a bad career move and) moved to Los Angeles, Ca. USA at age 19.
During those years I performed at Chat Noir in Oslo a dozen times
and received their golden pin award. I also performed with Kjell Karlsen, the Gamblers, and my own band the Tramps' Combo in Oslo, and many other cities.
This material is part of Oslo's popular music history, and I think some will find it fascinating.
I have copied it all to a flash drive, but I'm not sure I know how and where to send it. I will try to send it to this website, but if not successful in doing so, perhaps someone could send me an email
with instructions how to get this done. Thanks Sofus

Would love to hear from anybody who remembers me from back then..

Hyggelig at du er 'still going śtrong'.
Husker deg fra ungdomsårene. Vanket på BB's bar. Husker Johs. Persa,Pekka, Sverre m.fl.
Mange er borte nå men minnene lever.
Mye fin musikk du har laget.
Mvh
