Frå føraren på Valdres Folkemuseum (2012):
"Planovergangskiosk frå Leira stasjon. Denne styrde automatisk varsellys og bomanlegg ved overgangen. VAS tyder Vegsignal Apparat Skap. (...) Valdresbanen var utbygd til Fagernes i 1906. Fram til 1937 var Valdresbanen privatbane; då overtok staten drifta. Siste ordinære passasjer- og godstog gjekk frå Fagernes i 1988. Skjenene mellom Fagernes og Leira vart fjerna i 1991 i samband med at europavegen vart utbetra. Langsmed Valdresbanen vart det reist ei mengd hus med tilknyting til jernbanen."

Valdres Railway Line: The Valdres railway line was completed at Fagernes in 1906. Up to 1937, when the state took it over, the Valdres railway was a private line. The last ordinary passenger and goods train left from Fagernes in 1988. The track between Fagernes and Leira was removed in 1991 when the European road was improved. Along the line various buildings were erected connected to the railway. Valdres Museum has three of these. 1) The barack building from Etna Station, built before 1937. Up to the 1960s railway workers stayed here during the working week, only going home at weekends. 2) Signal Box at the Leira level crossing. It automatically controlled the lights and barrier. VAS means Vegsignal Apparat Skap, ie Road Signal Instrument Box. 3) Velocipede trolley or handcar store from Leira Station. The handcar, work trolley and tools for the railway workers were kept here.

Valdresbanen (le chemin de fer de Valdres): La construction du chemin de fer de Valdres a atteint Fagernes en 1906. Valdresbanen a été une compagnie privée jusqu’en 1937, quand l’Etat a repris le service. Le dernier train de voyageurs ou de marchandise en circulation ordinaire a quitté la gare de Fagernes en 1988. Les rails entre Fagernes et Leira ont été enlevés en 1991 à l’occasion des travaux de réfection de la route européenne. Le long du chemin de fer, il a été élevé une multitude de maisons en relation avec le chemin de fer. Valdres Folkemuseum en a trois: 1) Loge de repos de la gare de Eina, construite avant 1937. Jusqu’aux années 1960, l’équipe habitait ici pendant la semaine et rentraient chez eux les week-ends. 2) Cabine de passage à niveau de la garde de Leira. Cette cabine a dirigé les signaux et la barrière automatiques au passage. 3) Remise de draisine et chariot de la gare de Leira. La draisine, le chariot et les outils de l’équipe des rails étaient rangés ici.
