SS Cretic (1895) was an ocean liner built in 1895 by Harland & Wolff for the white Star line and completed on 28 March 1895. She was built at a cost of £366,148 and measured 2,179 gross register tons. Though designed as a livestock carrier, Cretic also carried some passenger accommodation on her foredeck, including a parlour, a dining saloon and a barber’s shop. Her overall length was 122 ft 6 in, with a beam of 24 ft 9 in and a depth of 14 ft 3 in. With a pair of reciprocating engines, Cretic was capable of a service speed of 14.5 knots, but could only manage 9 knots when hauling freight. She was built to Service the Liverpool-Sydney route. She had a colorful life until 1905, when she was sold to the Columbia River shipping as a River Steamboat. She also started operating in Columbia River, she was in service in Columbia River until 1917 when she was sold to a Norwegian Whaling company and converted into a Whaling factory ship and renamed “sjødronningen”, She also returned back to the Atlantic Ocean route, and She continued operating in Norway until she was scrapped in 1927.

Dyre Kristiansen Enger, f. 9.5.1870, reiste med Montebello fra Oslo med Boston som mål 7.10.1904. Han var da bosatt i Amerika, og gift mekanisk arbeider. Olga Louise Enger, f. 1875, reise samme dato fra Oslo. Reisen gikk videre med S/S. Cretic /White Star linjen 13.10.1904. Dyre Enger emigrerte til USA fra Kristiania i med Rollo 17.3.1887, som 17 åring, var da ugift arbeider.
