Huset er Øvregata nr. 132 bygget i 1866/-67 av Vårsildavgiftsfondet og var byens eneste sykehus helt til 1917. Sjømannsskolen holdt til her en kort tid. I 1939 ble det solgt til kommunen og ominnredet til husmorskole, som flyttet inn i 1940.
Mannen med flosshatt er Johan Christie, sjømannsskolens bestyrer den gang, og sønnen Carl Christie. Damen foran er fru Christie. Småpiken til høyre er fru Christiane Alfhaug, fru Christies brordatter fra Stavanger, far: stuert Michaelsen.
