- National Industri i Drammen ble startet av Ing. Torkildsen i 1913 som en nasjonal produsent av elektrisk utstyr, i en tid da utenlandske selskaper som ASEA, ITT og BBC kjøpte opp mange av de tidlige norske selskapene. Samme skjebne rammet National etter oen år - amerikanske Westinghouse kom inn på eiersiden på 1920-tallet. På 1950-tallet ble utenlandske aksjer kjøpt hjem til Norge bl.a. ved at Bergensgruppen gikk inn på eiersiden (senere Investa).
