Heinkel He 111H-3 Lavangseidet, Narvik Nordland
Stab/KG 26 1H+KA WNr.2411 24.05 1940
The Heinkel bomber was operating over Narvik. They were intercepted over Bardufoss by three Gloster Gladiators from 263 Sqdn.(Grant-Ede, William Riley and Caesar Hull). Their attacks put both engines out of action, and the A/C made an emergency landing north of Gratangsbotn.
The pilot, Oberleutnant Paul Hartmut , Unteroffizier Günter Eichmann (flight engineer) and Unteroffizier Hans Blunk (air gunner) became POW. Oberfeldwebel Eduard Strüber (Observer) and wireless operator Feldwebel Alfred Stock (KIA)
