Furuheim var behandlingshjem for tuberkulosepasienter. Bygget ble innviet 13. feb. 1917 med plass til 20 pasienter. I 1928 stod bygget til venstre ferdig. Det ble benyttet til kjøkken, matsal og salong. I andre etasje var det personalrom. Utover på 1950-tallet fikk man bukt med tæringa og Helseheimen ble nedlagt 1. juli 1954.
Bygget ble etter tæringa brukt som Gamlehjem før det nye kom.
På 60-70-og 80-tallet ble bygget brukt til div industri. Bygget til venstre ble da brukt som leilighet. Flere prøvde seg som industrigrundere med base i bygget til høyre blant annet Madsen og Stauning. "Hansen med Halslinsene" bodde i likhuset. Han ville ikke bli med da Gamlehjemmet ble flyttet.
I dag er den store bygningen til høyre er revet. Bygningen til venstre er Furuheim barnehage.
