Eid skole sto først i Vingelsåsen. Den ble bygd i 1874. Den første lærer var Nils Røe. Han var lærer til 1876. de ble skolen slått sammen med Hodalen, og lærer var da Johannes Holøyen. han underviste 1 dag i Vingelsåsen og 1 dag i Hodalen uke gjennom.
I 1878 ble Jon Moe tilsatt som lærer, og han virket helt fram til 1913.
Skolen ble solgt til Eid i 1916. Før den tid gikk barna fra Eid på skole i Vingelsåsen. Vinteren 1916-1917 var ikke skolen ferdig enda, så da gikk barna på skole på kjøkkenloftet hos Per Eide, no Smegarden. Lærer var Ingjerd Kolstad. Hun var da lærer på Tolga og Eid skoler.
1917-18 startet skolen på Eid men denne vinteren var det så kaldt at midt på vinteren ble det holdt skole i stua hos Snekker-Per. Aslaig Johnsgård som gikk andre året kan fortelle at det var så trangt der, at det var omtrent umulig å få ro i klassen.
På bildet er det Petra Thomasgård som er lærer. Etter henne var det Borghild Lillebekken som ble lærer, og hun var der til skolen ble lagt ned i 1934.
